An illuminated window art image of a girl under a moon pouring water from a watering can. A cat is pawing at the drops of water

What a treat to be asked to help the lovely people at Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival promote their Moonshine Festival of Illuminated Window Art in February 2022. I have loved, loved, loved Moonraking since I first arrived in West Yorkshire in 2014.

Calendar ITV , BBC Radio Leeds, Yorkshire Post, Huddersfield Times and Huddersfield Hub , Kirklees Local TV and the Yorkshire Times all featured the festival. Here’s the live broadcast on Calendar ITV !

And here is Gill Bond, festival Director being interviewed by Richard Stead on the breakfast show with BBC Radio Leeds.

BBC Radio Leeds liked her so much they invited her back for some more on Sunday morning with Andrew Edwards !

The Moonshine Festival of Illuminated Window Art was how the Moonraking festival responded to the Covid pandemic . In 2021 and 2022 they couldn’t run their usual festival with lantern making , storytelling, music and fireworks. They came up with this lovely plan to illuminate the village in the dark nights of February for a few days. My kids and I loved walking round the village looking at the window art and we can’t wait to be part of the full Moonraking Festival when it returns. You can help make this happen in 2023 and beyond by donating to the Moonraking SpaceHive .

Here , for your pleasure and delight, are some of the beautiful artworks from Moonshine 2022. All on the theme of water, first the mermaids…

Frogs and frog babies !

Watery splendidness!

The festival happened just at the beginning of then Russian invasion of Ukraine, so this one made us all cry.

Take a look at my news page to see some other great news stories I’ve landed in national and local media.
